My previous understanding of Global Warming: 1) The climate is ever changing and cyclical. 2) People are not able to change the climate, even if we tried. Populations are so small compared to the size of earth. 3) Politicians are waiting for sound solid evidence that global warming is caused by human activities. 4) We have time to debate this subject.
My present understanding of Global Warming: 1) The climate is ever changing and cyclical. However, ice cores show that the temperature today is higher than at anytime from thousands and thousands of years ago. 2) The earth’s atmosphere is very thin. People may not be able to change its chemical composition, but the machines we make sure can. The evidence linking carbon-dioxide levels and global temperature is easy to see. 3) Ice is melting not only faster than I thought but faster than the scientists studying the ice thought. This next thought is just a guess, but these scientists are likely much more intelligent than media personnel and talk-show hosts. 4) A great many politicians are stupid, ignorant, or professionally selfish. These people will not get my vote or support anymore. 5) We’re not working hard enough to lessen human impact on the earth’s climate.
